Some Key Facts:
- I am female and in my forties
- I am single
- The areas affected by HS are genitals, inner thighs, pernium, buttocks, breasts and armpits
- I have had one leison on my tummy but it burst and has not yet come back
- I would say I am in stage 2 of the disease heading for stage 3
- I have had HS since I was 13yrs old but was only diagnosed properly 6 years ago.
- in the last 10 years i have had about 12 operations under anasthetic and around 30 accident and emergency visits.
- I have not had a sexual relationship in 15 years
- I have had a nervous breakdown and I am still clinically depressed
- In the last 3 years have spent over £3,000 on IPL hair removal but no longer can afford it ( it did seem to help a bit)
- In 2 years have spent over £2,000 on counselling and physiotherapy
- I no longer have a job since i was made redundant
- I have applied for over 30 jobs in last 2 years and have not even been asked to an interview
- I am educated to Masters level and have held senior positions in managment and development
- To date I have raised over 1.5 million for charitable work in youth & community arts
- Due to the nature of HS and its unpredicatable pattern I am no longer considered a viable option for employment
- I have been on benefits for the last 2 years
- I am massive debt
- I am on the brink of losing everything such as car, home, possesions etc becasue i can no longer afford them
- i am now morbidly obese
- I have severe pain in joints
- i feel that i am now just waiting to die
